Death of Split Screen

Getting friends in the same room as each other is a very good way to spend an afternoon off work. Thanks to the rise of online gaming, especially with console gaming, friends can now meet online without having to be in the same house as each other.

This is great, to say the least as it just goes to show how much gaming is changing for the better

and how much new tech is being embraced as well. Games such as Halo have even gone as far as to remove split-screen from their games, and when you look at the fact that this has been part of the game’s fabric for generations, you’ll see that this is a major red flag that split-screen gaming is truly done for.

Free to Play

More and more games are flooding the market place and now consumers can’t wait to spend their money on the best, upcoming titles. This has led to a Free to Play model, where publishers have to lift the price on their games to try and draw players in. there is nothing wrong with Free to Play games but publishers have turned them into money-grabbing schemes.

Games such as Candy Crush now demand payment when you can reach a certain point and some of the free games cost more than the full-priced ones, if you fall for the various tricks that they use to try and make you buy the items you need to advance the level.

Casino Games

If you look at this rough guide to history of gambling, you will soon see that it has changed a lot over the years. Casino games are now more accessible than ever. If you download a casino app then this will enable you to play games on your phone, while you’re on the go. This has helped to open a world of possibility and it has made it so people can enjoy the games that they love, without having to take a laptop with them. Casinos have rocketed in popularity as the result of recent advancements and the fact that they can now be played on the go, without compromising the overall experience they have to offer is nothing short of revolutionary.

Digital Storefronts

There was once a time when you had to hunt down a physical copy of a game from your local retailer if you wanted to play it. Now you don’t have to do this, as internet speeds have become faster. This has facilitated people being able to download the games that they want, without having to worry about waiting days. In fact, you can now download the games that you want and the whole thing can be done in a few hours.

Consoles have been a touch slower on the uptake of digital gaming but at the end of the day, they have more than made up for it. Now you can play games on Steam, Xbox Live or even on the PlayStation Store. Gaming shops are becoming obsolete, and this is marking a significant

change in the industry.

Gaming Media

If you look at how things were 10 years ago, you will know that you could walk into any newsstand and pick up a huge variety of magazines. In this day and age, print media is dying and a lot of gaming publications are going out of business. That being said, outlets such as IGN and even GameSpot are thriving. This just goes to show that people are still very much interested in accessing publications like this, they just don’t want to pay for a hard copy of it. It’s very interesting to see how things have changed and how history is helping to shape the future, but with all of this in mind, one thing is certain. The gaming sector is rocketing in popularity and things are set to only get better from here on out.
